Do I need to make a Will?
Yes, you probably do!

It is perhaps not a subject you wish to think about nor plan on having to consider, but all too often we see clients, young and old, facing complex situations, stress and inflated Inheritance Tax bills at a time when they are emotionally at their lowest having lost their loved ones, all because no Will was made.

When a person passes away without having left a Will, their Estate (what they own) is distributed subject to the Intestacy Rules laid out in legislation. Whilst you may find that your current personal position is fine under these rules, there are many reasons why a Will is still your best option.

Passing away ‘intestate’ (without leaving a Will) would mean that your unmarried partner,  close friend, family of no blood relation, carer or charity could receive nothing from your Estate. In contrast, it could mean that your separated (but not divorced) partner is entitled to your Estate before your children.

These are just a small handful of reasons why a Will makes sense. For a relatively small cost, not only do you ensure that your loved ones receive your Estate as you would wish but that they are not overly burdened by the stresses caused by the Intestacy Rules and the administration of your Estate.

Below is a very basic example of how your Estate could be dealt with should you pass away having not left a Will. I invite you to take a look and if you, like thousands of others in the UK, realise you need to make a Will, do get in touch with us here at Nantes Solicitors Ltd.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”36354″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]Not only can we advise on your type of Will and the Writing of the Will but we will also store it free of charge until such time as it is needed for alterations or reading.
